Best buy laptops in
2015
This year promises several exciting laptop models
from most of the leading manufacturers. The focus seems to be on providing
extended battery life, keeping in mind the growing number of people who are on
the go. Here are few models that may catch your fancy.
AMD has just released information about its new
range of processors to be released under the name Carizzo. These highly energy
efficient processors promise extended battery life. Excavator is one such
processor that is faster than its predecessor Kaveri. Even the graphics chip is
designed to use up to 20% less energy when compared to the one installed in
Kaveri.
Dell’s new model laptop, the Dell XPS 13, is an
ultraportable laptop that is probably the best in its league. The sleek,
compact design coupled with the spruced up performance, and enhanced battery
life will make this the choice of many. Add to this the smart design, handy
keyboard, and affordable price that is sure to win over potential customers.
The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus is a stunning, all-aluminum
ultraportable laptop that comes with a spirited HD touch screen, and a
commendable battery life. It also boasts power-packed speakers that let you
have a blast while on the go. The solid, backlit keyboard looks and feels
comfortable, especially for people who need to spend long hours at their laptops.
Dell, again, has some great laptops especially
for schools, which includes the Chromebook 11, which is exactly what teacher
prescribed. Built tough to withstand the rigors of rough usage by school kids,
this new model from Dell comes along with another laptop named the Latitude
laptop that has several similarities. The keyboard and display deck feature a
180-degree hinge, making it ultra-flexible in the hands of school kids. The
keys and touchpad are sealed into the keyboard deck, making the entire unit
leak-proof.
Not to be left behind in the race, the ASUS
Transformer Book, a 2-in-1 affair, this is a laptop that has a special
detachable feature that can convert it into an 11.6-inch tablet, and comes a lot
cheaper than an iPad. Smooth performance is guaranteed by the quad-core Intel
Atom CPU, and the 64-GB onboard storage is probably more than sufficient for
most people. The keyboard and touchpad work excellently, though the battery
life could have been better.
Acer’s new Aspire R13 comes with a swivel screen,
and is a 2-in-1 with superfast SSDs, and commendable overall performance. The
promised battery life matches any other offered in the market, and what’s more
is the design is clunky and appealing. With so many new models jostling for
space, prospects for potential best budget laptop in 2015 sure
looks promising and is bound to generate a lot of excitement.
A 3D
Laptop: Pi-Top
Version 3
The birth of a 3D
printer set this world free and left everyone ‘wide mouth opened’. The amazing
things this invention did are beyond what words could describe. It brought legs
to people who were handicapped and a ray of hope for people who thought that
making a desired Lego character is impossible.
The range of achievements unlocked by this amazing invention is
priceless. Raspberry Pi laptops are one
of these inventions that paved way to a better future. It altered the way through
which laptops were traditionally made and took the 3D printing to a whole new
level. They have been creating the impossible, possible.
Raspberry Pi is a
company that believes in innovating things that makes life simpler. The
foundation is based on computers that are equally sized to a credit card. It is
a user friendly chip that can be plugged on to a television set or a monitor
and makes the system act like a computer or a laptop. It gives everything a normal computer
does, such as exploring the internet, playing high definition games and even
assists in creating and modifying word documents and spreadsheets. It is
basically a computer in your pocket. With the introduction and advancement in
the 3D printing sector, they came up with personal computers that are cheap and
productive. It specifically has proved of great use to kids. The schooling
sector has boosted its way through using this innovative technology. Previously
two versions of Raspberry Pi- Tops have been brought into the market and with
the third installment named as raspberry Pi-Top Version 3, this company has
designed the laptop to serve greater purposes. Below is the detailed
functionality of the laptop.
Though the 3rd
installment of this device hasn’t been made available to the public the featured
showcase revealed the specifications this little man would carry. Raspberry Pi
provides the best when it comes to processors and the chipset. With a quadcore
processor which runs at 900MHz, the Pi 2 surprised many heads whereas the pi3
remains the same but is expected to run at a cloaking higher than the previous
version. The usual size with two additional USB ports is the ‘news making’
feature it has to offer. An improved touch pad and an even smaller printed
panel are other improvements made to the Raspberry Pi 3. The sales of this
laptop too is expected to reach greater heights similar to its precedes.
Sony Vaio Laptops turns into Tablets
Sony almost gave up on its VAIO about a year ago; however it is being revived with a bang now. The brand was originally sold off to Japan Industrial Partners, and is now back with Sony, and the company has decided to add another PC to the VAIO name. The VAIO Z and VAIO Z Canvas were originally designed in-house by the team at Sony, and the VAIO Z was the flagship brand of the company. This ultra notebook is designed to in such a way that users can flip the hinged back and transform the Sony laptops into a tablet.
The VAIO Z Canvas, on the other hand is a cheaper version that is a lot lighter, and has a keyboard that is detachable. The VAIO Z itself comes in two avatars, each featuring a 13.3-inch display, and powered by either an Intel i7 or an i5 processor. It has a strong aluminum carbon shell body, and the system can boot itself in 0.3 seconds flat. When you are constrained for working space you can simply twist the display to face downwards, and convert the laptop into a tablet. Although Sony prefers to call its flagship product a “monster PC” it does not draw that much power as one would imagine.
The machine can go on and on for close to 15.5 hours on a single charge, is what the company
claims. This is by far the longest time for any VAIO, and is a feat indeed. The Z Canvas too is a “monster tablet” that is powered by an i7 processor, and features a 256-GB SSD with up to 16GB onboard memory. The Z Canvas too can transform itself, as it comes with a keyboard that is detachable. In case you don’t want to use the keyboard, you can always opt to use the stylus, as you would do with any other tablet.
While the VAIO laptops went on sale after Sony sold the brand to Japan Industrial Partners in 2013, the other devices VAIO Fit and VAIO Pro were all created while the brand was still in the procession of Sony. These new laptops come under the category of being the first products that were created and launched under the new ownership. The new owners did borrow the name from what VAIO had earlier – the VAIO Z11 that was launched back in 2012. The VAIO Z series released now indicate a new name that starts from scratch, hence Z is not followed by any numerals, denoting nothing – or Zero.

A quick sneak peek at Half moon Bay Library's newest laptops
Step into any library and what greets you is
pin-drop silence and rows upon rows of neatly stacked books on gleaming shelves.
However, when you step into Half Moon Bay Library on a lazy afternoon you’ll be
pleasantly surprised to notice that the library does have books that are
interspersed with computers. Every single computer is occupied with someone or
the other browsing the Internet, busy checking emails, or gleefully playing any
of the several exciting games available.
The World Wide Web has indeed shrunk the world, and
it lets people keep in touch with friends, acquaintances and others who happen
to be online. The library system in the Coastside is providing commendable
service by providing free Internet access to anyone who is in need. The
officials working with the San Mateo Library System are a dedicated lot who
wish to take this service to an all new level soon.
A $150,000 pilot program, the brainchild of the
countrywide library system is intent on loaning out laptops and
computers, and what’s more is that patrons can even borrow a computer and keep
it at home for a week, just like they would any book from the library. These
computers, each costing around $700, come with 4G mobile Internet hotspots, providing
instant access to high-speed Internet service in any area that is within cell
phone range, even in far flung fringe areas in the vicinity of Pescadero, La
Honda and Montara.
Set to be launched by the end of the month, this
program is already gaining popularity as thenew Wi-Fi Hotspots, and will
have 130 Dell laptops spread out in 12 branches. The library system has also
acquired 200 subscriptions for Wi-Fi Hotspots, including data
subscriptions. All a person will need to borrow a computer/laptop is
a library card, according to Nicole Pasini, library services manager.
The Half Moon Bay Library is set to receive 10 laptops on
an experimental basis in the pilot phase. The library caters to a diverse group
of residents, considering their income levels and the distance at which they
are located. The branch plans to service a perimeter of 270 sq miles, even
servicing patrons located quite far away. This program is meant to bring relief
to people settled in rural areas, including the South Coast where access to the
Internet is limited. The Wi-Fi Hotspots program is conceived as one that will
certainly connect as many people as possible through the Internet.
