Xiaomi makes the screen Bigger and Better!!!

Chinese Tech giant Xiaomi is proposed to launch its first laptop in china and could be expected in the first or second half of 2016. Xiaomi`s first laptop will come in 12.5 inch, 13.3 inch and 15.6 -inch models.

The 15.6- inch laptop will run an old processor with an objective to keep its Costs down.

Xiaomi will settle for intel`s Haswell core i7 rather than a more up to date skylake processor. The laptop might likewise have an older NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760M graphics chip, a 1080 Display, 5GB of RAM and Linux.

The cost aspect of this laptop is roughly under $464.

Obviously, there are a lot of Chromebooks and Windows laptops that are already available for even  lesser prices than mentioned above.

If Xiaomi follows their framed pricing strategy, it is the Lenovo, who gets affected the most being the largest PC and notebook manufacturer in the world.

There was also news stating that Xioami laptops are going to run on Linux instead of windows.

Xiaomi's greatest favourable position will probably be its own ecosystem of cell phones, tablets, wearable`s and connected home appliances. In another context, if the company can incorporate its laptop with those products, it could tackle the less expensive rivalry… and possibly Apple, as well.

Best buy laptops in 2015

This year promises several exciting laptop models from most of the leading manufacturers. The focus seems to be on providing extended battery life, keeping in mind the growing number of people who are on the go. Here are few models that may catch your fancy.

AMD has just released information about its new range of processors to be released under the name Carizzo. These highly energy efficient processors promise extended battery life. Excavator is one such processor that is faster than its predecessor Kaveri. Even the graphics chip is designed to use up to 20% less energy when compared to the one installed in Kaveri.

Dell’s new model laptop, the Dell XPS 13, is an ultraportable laptop that is probably the best in its league. The sleek, compact design coupled with the spruced up performance, and enhanced battery life will make this the choice of many. Add to this the smart design, handy keyboard, and affordable price that is sure to win over potential customers.

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus is a stunning, all-aluminum ultraportable laptop that comes with a spirited HD touch screen, and a commendable battery life. It also boasts power-packed speakers that let you have a blast while on the go. The solid, backlit keyboard looks and feels comfortable, especially for people who need to spend long hours at their laptops.

Dell, again, has some great laptops especially for schools, which includes the Chromebook 11, which is exactly what teacher prescribed. Built tough to withstand the rigors of rough usage by school kids, this new model from Dell comes along with another laptop named the Latitude laptop that has several similarities. The keyboard and display deck feature a 180-degree hinge, making it ultra-flexible in the hands of school kids. The keys and touchpad are sealed into the keyboard deck, making the entire unit leak-proof.

Not to be left behind in the race, the ASUS Transformer Book, a 2-in-1 affair, this is a laptop that has a special detachable feature that can convert it into an 11.6-inch tablet, and comes a lot cheaper than an iPad. Smooth performance is guaranteed by the quad-core Intel Atom CPU, and the 64-GB onboard storage is probably more than sufficient for most people. The keyboard and touchpad work excellently, though the battery life could have been better.

Acer’s new Aspire R13 comes with a swivel screen, and is a 2-in-1 with superfast SSDs, and commendable overall performance. The promised battery life matches any other offered in the market, and what’s more is the design is clunky and appealing. With so many new models jostling for space, prospects for potential best budget laptop in 2015 sure looks promising and is bound to generate a lot of excitement.

A quick sneak peek at Half moon Bay Library's newest laptops

Step into any library and what greets you is pin-drop silence and rows upon rows of neatly stacked books on gleaming shelves. However, when you step into Half Moon Bay Library on a lazy afternoon you’ll be pleasantly surprised to notice that the library does have books that are interspersed with computers. Every single computer is occupied with someone or the other browsing the Internet, busy checking emails, or gleefully playing any of the several exciting games available.

The World Wide Web has indeed shrunk the world, and it lets people keep in touch with friends, acquaintances and others who happen to be online. The library system in the Coastside is providing commendable service by providing free Internet access to anyone who is in need. The officials working with the San Mateo Library System are a dedicated lot who wish to take this service to an all new level soon.

A $150,000 pilot program, the brainchild of the countrywide library system is intent on loaning out  laptops and computers, and what’s more is that patrons can even borrow a computer and keep it at home for a week, just like they would any book from the library. These computers, each costing around $700, come with 4G mobile Internet hotspots, providing instant access to high-speed Internet service in any area that is within cell phone range, even in far flung fringe areas in the vicinity of Pescadero, La Honda and Montara.

Set to be launched by the end of the month, this program is already gaining popularity as thenew Wi-Fi Hotspots, and will have 130 Dell laptops spread out in 12 branches. The library system has also acquired 200 subscriptions for Wi-Fi Hotspots, including data subscriptions. All a person will need to borrow a computer/laptop is a library card, according to Nicole Pasini, library services manager.

The Half Moon Bay Library is set to receive 10 laptops on an experimental basis in the pilot phase. The library caters to a diverse group of residents, considering their income levels and the distance at which they are located. The branch plans to service a perimeter of 270 sq miles, even servicing patrons located quite far away. This program is meant to bring relief to people settled in rural areas, including the South Coast where access to the Internet is limited. The Wi-Fi Hotspots program is conceived as one that will certainly connect as many people as possible through the Internet.

New Smart Keyboard that Recognizes Users by their Typing Style

Ever thought the typewriters founded in the year 1860s would evolve into a ‘smart’ security electronic device that could realize user detection, alert, record user’s typing pattern and identify the person. But this novel vision has turned into a reality now. Originally, keyboards of desktops and laptops adopted the QWERTY design similar to the ones found on typewriters. Later, keyboards for desktops and laptops incorporated additional keys such as the alphanumeric keys (numbers and letters), punctuation keys and special keys – arrow keys, control keys, function keys and so on.   The layouts kept changing and took the form of AZERTY – a French version of the QWERTY design, Dvorak - for speed typing, AT keyboards, enhanced keyboards, ADB keyboards meant for Apple machines and many more to suit different needs and purposes. Now, it has gone a step ahead and has emerged as device safeguarding computers and its contents.

Even though password protection enables control over unwarranted computer access, it too is not fool proof.  Social networking sites buzzing with news related to high-profile hacking stories are a common phenomenon and are proof to this ever rising concern. Introduction of the new smart keyboard that recognizes users by their typing style has come as a solace to all of us who have been concerned about the increasing cyberattacks and identity thefts that are plaguing the whole world. Unlike the traditional keyboard types that record keystrokes based on the keys that are pressed, this self-powered and self-cleaning smart keyboard records the pattern of keystrokes based on the time taken in between keystrokes and the force applied over them. It means, this keyboard would be able to even differentiate one user from another, by the way he/she types. Even if anyone comes to know what the password is, she or he would not be in a position to gain access unless and until she or he is the genuine user. The ultimate aim is to prevent unauthorized personnel from getting access to computers and the contents in it, directly.

In addition to this, a special coating on its surface deters accumulation of grime and dirt on it. So, users need not have to bother about cleaning it too. Last but not the least, the energy produced from typing can be used for powering any other smaller electronic device or to power itself. In total, this smart keyboard is set to prove that it would be one of the cost-effective, user-friendly desktop and laptop keyboards that would also help in securing the contents on computers by providing an extra protective layer that augments security.

We love ebay, only till we get swindled by a man who claims to sell a laptop, but all he actually sells is a picture of it. If you are still wondering if people really are being cheated like this, hell yeah, they are.

So the story goes like this. A surfer guy named Paul Barrington, surfer by passion, sold the last of his surfing boards to buy an Apple MacBook for 300 Euros from eBay. Keeping in mind that this act of sacrifice was to kick start a business of his own as DJ, because of a lung condition that caused him breath troubles. A few days later, a box that either by size or weight had no chance of containing a laptop arrived at his doorstep.

Guess what? He did receive a MacBook, but printed over a paper. There definitely were laughs, but when asked about it to Mr.Barrington, he replied “I sold my pride and joy for a piece of paper.” As we all know, such instances aren’t new. There are many such incidents that have fooled many.

eBay felt sorry and promised to pay him back through the ‘eBay Money Back Guarantee. As much as the story seems to entertain us, a part does feel sorry for him.
